Focus on the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland in this year’s call for proposals from the LGBTI Fund

The Nordic Council of Ministers has decided to launch a targeted call for proposals through the 2026 fund. To be eligible for funding, the lead organisation must be based in the Faroe Islands, Greenland or Åland.

Deepati Forsberg is a project coordinator at NIKK and responsible for the Nordic LGBTI Fund. She hopes that this year’s call for proposals will be at step towards a Nordic region where everyone has equal rights and opportunities , regardless of where they live.

Nordic Gender Equality Fund seeks new projects in 2026

The purpose of the Nordic Gender Equality Fund is to promote Nordic cooperation in the field of gender equality. We are now seeking additional projects that can contribute to Nordic added value.

Dialogue and cooperation are key cornerstones of Nordic cooperation, and the Nordic Gender Equality Fund provides an opportunity to support this. The fund finances projects involving at least three different organisations from at least three Nordic countries.

Eventful year for gender equality and LGBTI co-operation under banner of Finland and Åland

The presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers rotates annually between the Nordic countries, and 2025 Finland and Åland jointly held the presidency.

It has been an eventful year in the field of gender equality and LGBTI rights. A strong, united Nordic voice in the international debate has been the keyword for the Finnish and Åland Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers.
